The Horror

Parliament on Sunday passed new laws on enforced disappearance and human rights, including the death penalty for those found responsible.

Under the new law, perpetrators could face the death penalty or life imprisonment if a victim dies or remains missing for more than five years. The law also sets a 120-day deadline to complete the investigation and trial.

But beyond the harsh punishments and legal deadlines, there is a more important question: will the families who have spent years waiting finally get the answers they deserve?
